Karachi is an Indian target. Attacks on religious shrines, especially Sufi shrines, are foreign-instigated and aim at starting a civil war in the country, exploiting tensions on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. India is arming and funding anti-Pakistani fighters and distributing anti-Pakistan literature in Balochistan and the tribal belt.

The blasphemy law is not an issue between Pakistani Christians and Muslims. It is an issue between our westernized extremists and religious extremists. Both are wrong, and both are holding Pakistan hostage and both need to be restrained. Outsiders and foreigners, please stay out of this internal debate.

Who should be held responsible: retired General Pervez Musharraf, President Asif Ali Zardari or COAS Gen. Ashfaque Parvez Kayani? They can’t shun their responsibility for the rise in CIA drone attacks in Pakistan in the past three years and someone will have to become answerable in front of the Pakistani nation.

Pakistan’s Interior and Defense ministers made pathetic statements, one ‘mulling’ taxing NATO trucks and the other one pleading for recognition of Pakistan’s sacrifices. Why should Pakistanis be sacrificed at the altar of US and NATO?

Why half a million Mehsuds were turned into refugees in their own country? Why the Wazirs were stopped from selling their fruits in the markets of their own country? Do we need to keep on killing and destroying our own people in the pursuit of this unending and unwinnable war?

While Mr. Altaf Hussain weeps over Dr. Imran Farooq and MQM officials throng the house of the murdered man’s parents in Karachi, no one is asking why MQM is keeping Farooq’s family under what looks like a house arrest in Karachi? Why Imran Farooq’s parents, brothers, sisters are not allowed to come on TV and give a statement? Welcome to another chapter in Karachi’s unfortunate political gang war.
[In Urdu] All major Pakistani political parties have militant wings armed with banned weapons. The present elected govt has issued close to 40,000 banned weapon permits in less than two years. AQ talks to party workers to show Pakistanis one more hidden aspect of Pakistans failed political system: an armed democracy monopolized by a few [...]
