The government of Mr. Asif Zardari wants to buy the French subs, mainly becuase the French pay heavy commission/birbes. The German subs are more effective. [...]

Don’t Fool Yourselves, Pakistan’s Judiciary As Screwed As Its Feudal Democracy

How William Burns Was Unanimously Censored By Indian Media

US Undersecretary of State William Burns raised with the Indians concerns about the activities of Indian consulates in Afghanistan in support of terrorism inside Pakistan. Mr. Burns spoke in clear terms. Surprisingly, the Indian media unanimously censored Mr. Burns on the question of Indian export of terror into Pakistan using Afghan soil. The mass media missed the story. Here it is in its fascinating detail.

Ikram Sehgal: If the Army can stomach Zardari, why should they mind Musharraf back as president one day? Musharraf’s fate is the same as those who close their ears to good advice and shoot messengers bringing bad news.

Forget AfPak, Resolve AfKash To Win In Afghanistan

Forget AfPak, Resolve AfKash To Win In Afghanistan

Forget AfPak. It’s more about AfKash, Afghanistan and Kashmir. That is the key if President Obama wants to turn Afghanistan into a victory. Pakistan cannot press a button to stop the Pashtun tribes of Afghanistan from resisting America-Karzai-warlords who sidelined them and kept them out of power in Kabul. The anti-India actions in Kashmir are also not a Pakistani creation. They will continue, fester and invite reaction from Kashmiris and Pakistanis on Pakistani soil unless resolved. Desperate US policymakers shouldn’t listen to smugly Indians who claim they know the region better than anyone else and have come up with this bogus anti-Pashtun policy in Afghanistan. They misled the Soviets in the 1970s and now they are misleading the Americans.

Cheney’s Assassination Squad Allegedly Targeted Benazir Bhutto

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Even without Cheney’s assassination squad, Washington bears moral and legal responsibility for her murder. She was enjoying life between Dubai-London-New York with wealth accumulated during two stints in power. She was enjoying a life of luxury and was in no hurry to return. Her party stagnated back home but she refused to delegate power as party chairman. The only reason she returned to Pakistan is because Washington convinced her she will be restored to power in Islamabad and that her safety will be guaranteed. To do this the Americans brokered a deal between Musharraf and her. Her Pakistani adviser in Washington counseled her to make public statements toeing the American line [Allow US boots on the ground in Pakistan; will permit CIA access to Dr. A. Q. Khan, etc.]  Musharraf was told his job will be secure if he helped bring an alliance of pro-American parties [MQM-ANP-PPP] to power to execute the American agenda in the region that consists, among other things, of emasculating the powerful Pakistani military. Pakistan was already facing a wave of terrorism organized by Indian and American intelligence elements in Afghanistan. Her assassination could have started a fatal civil war in the country which would have weakened the military’s grip. Killing Bhutto ensured Zardari’s and PPP’s rise to power on sympathy vote and ended the chances of the Pakistani military standing in the way of a puppet American government in Islamabad. All objectives achieved.-Ahmed Quraishi.
